iMac connection to keypad and mouse

I turned my iMac back on after 2 weeks. It won't connect to my keyboard or mouse even though it has been fine for years. Both keyboard and mouse are charged. I have also tried connecting both by usb but iMac continues to show pictures of them 'to be connected'. Anyone else had this problem? I can't even get to put my password in.

You may need a wired keyboad and mouse to get back up and running. What you may need to do is:

  1. Connect any wired keyboard and mouse to the iMac.
  2. Open System Preferences - Bluetooth
  3. Un-Pair and remove the wireless keyboard and mouse
  4. Turn off Bluetooth
  5. Restart the computer in Safe Mode per https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
  6. Restart the computer normally
  7. Open System Preferences - Bluetooth
  8. Turn on the wireless keyboard and mouse
  9. Re-Pair the wireless keyboard and mouse per https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201178
  10. Disconnect wired keyboard and mouse and test the wireless keyboard and mouse.
