MacOS Photos 4.0 people not loading/freezing

I can no longer see photos in the People section, all the faces are there but all the photos will not load, just a loading spinner appears. When I try to manually add a face to a photo a pop up appears saying "Add Face..." and the whole application become unresponsive, I need to force-quit to get it working again.

I repaired the library already by starting the application while holding down command and option.

Hello benpeke,

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities. I understand you're running into some issues with the Photos app on your Mac.

To confirm, it sounds like you're able to use the Photos app except when you access the People section or work with the "Add face" function; is that right?

Repairing your library was a great start. Is your Photos library stored on your internal Mac drive, or an external drive?

Do you use iCloud Photos?

Does it help if you click Apple menu () > Restart and test again?

How about if you boot into safe mode? This runs a diagnostic/repair and then prevents some items from loading, so it helps to rule out software issues: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. Once you test in safe mode, click Apple menu () > Restart to get back to normal.

Also, which exact macOS version are you using under Apple menu () > About This Mac?

I hope this helps get you started. Take care.
