Unable to select music from "watch" only

I have loaded music onto my watch, using the add music and sync function and on my iPhone I can see I have one album showing in Playlist and Albums from within the “Music Screen” of “My Watch”.   (Note, I can only see the album and not the tracks).

On my watch I can see that within General>About I have 16 songs listed.   However when I go to play the music from my watch I click on Music and the screen shows at the top “On iPhone” only and not

“watch”.  I have searched everywhere, tried a reset and a hard press, deleted the music and reloaded and even re-joined the Bluetooth ear pieces I have, all to no avail.  I can see hundreds of albums on my watch however I assume this is because “on iPhone” is selected and not “Watch”.

Any ideas how to fix very welcome!

Thanks.

When I launch the Apple Watch Music app I first see my album covers. If I rotate the Digital Crown, I can see

  • On iPhone
  • Shuffle All
  • Library

If I tap "Library", I see

  • Playlists
  • Artists
  • Albums
  • Songs

If I tap "Songs", I see

  • Shuffle All
  • and every song stored on my Apple Watch

I can also tap on Albums, Artists and Playlists and see each of those as well.

Finally, you do need to have either Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth speakers paired to your Apple Watch to listen to music.

When you choose the Music app on the watch, once you choose the album or playlist, you have to choose where you wish to play the audio. You don't have to choose Apple Watch as the source, since the music you see on the watch would be the music you have downloaded to the watch. If you select On iPhone, that is what you are going to see is the music on the iPhone.

To be honest, I've never done that much with Music on my Watch, so I cannot confirm or deny that the choice is a change, I just know that by default the Watch selects music on the Watch. So, for as much as I can tell about shuffle, it would shuffle what is on the Watch. I only have a portion of a single album on my Watch, more for a test to provide answers to other posters, so if I was to do shuffle, it would just be the few songs I have synced. I would change that to test for you, but I'm updating iOS on the iPad (already did the phone) and updating watchOS too, at the same time. Good luck, and enjoy your Watch.
