Photos App won't open on MacOS Mojave 10.14.4

Clicking on the Photos icon results in the program crashing and giving me a report to send to Apple (anonymously).

Steps I have already taken:

  • Clean install of Mojave 10.14.4 from start up off the internet (Photos still doesn't work)
  • Opening the computer in safe mode -- Photos still doesn't work but the articles online don't tell me what to do once I learn it still won't open in safe mode
  • Holding down option and command keys while opening Photos to trigger a repair -- and the repair doesn't work either and again, I can't find info on what to do with the repair process doesn't resolve an issue.

As near as I can tell Photos is baked into MacOS so I can't figure out how to remove it and reinstall it clean. Ideas?

Found this from "Old Toad" and it appears to have worked:

Try the following:

1 - launch Photos with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.

2 - import a couple of photos into it and open and close a couple of times.

3 - now try to open your original library.

For some reason this has helped some users to open a library that wouldn't open previously. Maybe a bad preference files or cache file. Worth a try and keep your fingers:
