So recently I've bought an iPhone 6s from eBay because my previous iPhone 8 has broken , but the iPhone 6s is on a activation lock screen I've looked up what this meant and found out that the device is has an iCloud is stuck on it and the previous owner has said to forgotten the password and that since the device was now mine it was my problem. I was wondering if there happen to be a simple way that apple can remove the iCloud account so I can enjoy the device I payed for I've payed for many Apple devices but have never came across something like this, most people tell me the device is now useless because Apple had disabled the phone but I doubt apple would waste a product like this I have been searching for about a month how would be able to use this deviceI have also came across something called a Bypass but it doesn't sound right for me to move this person's iCloud off the device myself I would rather this situation to be taken in to Apple's hands and help anyone in the same situatuon as me

enjoy the device I payed for

Let's be clear here. You did not pay Apple.

because Apple had disabled the phone

Let's be clear again... the previous user/owner disabled the phone. Not Apple.

Apple has no obligation or responsibility to you.

There is no known way to bypass this security feature.

If the Ebay seller did not disclose this phone as activation locked, you may be able to ask for a refund.

regardless if im paying apple directly or not it doesn't make since for this feature to be in the phone. If me not knowing about the disabled phone is on me and not Apples obligation then it should be the same consequence for people that have had there Apple device stolen or in any other scenario with an unknown apple id on the phone. Doesn't seem fair to be able to sell a phone to anyone and be able to scam them that quickly by simply disabling the phone (not saying apple did that but wouldn't happen if the feature were removed)

Yeah i figured that out awhile ago I've always seen them as liars but apple should definitely give an option to show a way to disable a phone without the previous owner as crazy as that sound but they have to look at it from a point of view that when a purchase is made from them its the owners responsibility to keep up with the device not apple

Tell the EBay seller.

And tens of thousands, maybe millions more phones would be stolen. Activation lock reduces the value if a stolen/lost phone to nil. As you have learned.

No feature means high value for stolen.lost/phones.

No Apple should not do away with this feature which has saved so many from a lot of grief. It is your own fault that you got scammed because you did not take the time to learn about all the features of your device. Of course, you are mad now and trying to blame Apple, but once you think about it, you will understand why people love the privacy and security Apple devices give them.

Like I've said before i take responsibility for not looking into the device but regardless if i did or not i'm not the only one going through this problem there are many other people going through the same thing I am if you can't accept the fact that it a physical human responsibility to keep up with a mobile device to avoid theft then this show me you have never owned a device that hasn't been made by apple. no one here is upset im just simply stating my opinion just like you anybody who celebrates over a corporation saving their device should be more careful not to lose the device in the first place you are only looking at this situation from the inside out. And I hope they do make a new security features for 3 reasons 1. being that it would be a waste to push out products just for people to disable them 2. People have bigger problems than trying to focus on making apple bank account bigger its ridiculous that the people who are going through this situation have to purchase new 300+ dollar phone just for it to either break and or this situation to occur again and 3. Because like I've said before it is a single person responsibility to keep up with THEIR mobile device not a company people with androids don't have this feature and yet the people who own one continue to compare their device to an apple device they don't have to mention their security because no matter what when you buy something ITS YOUR JOB TO TAKE SECURE THE PHONE can't stress it enough to mention that but it really proves that some people can't keep up with their belongings and I know you feel as if you love the security but just know you're not the only apple product owner

Apple does not secure the phone for us. It is up to the user to learn about and use the built in security features, or not, as in your case. Regardless, it is impossible to break into an iPhone that has Activation Lock activated. I hope this will be a learning experience for you and that you will learn to use all the features of your next Android phone. Do check EBay to see if they will issue a refund.
