I bought a new leather case for my iPhone XR but I can’t get it to wake up or sleep the screen when opening it or closing it using the case.
All the help I find says go into settings, then display and turn off lock screen but there is NO lock button

Go to Settings>Display and Brightness>Auto Lock>Never. That will leave the screen on the whole time that the phone is unlocked.
