Hi, robdog289,
I had connectivity issues with a phone well before I ever did with my car. Spent hours on the phone with the carrier, learning. So, now, when it happens in my car, I recognize what’s happening. My issues had to do with strength of signal for the phone carrier I was using... In that first instance, I did decide to change phones...
In my area, cellphone service was offered by AT&T and another (escapes my mind at the moment). With those problems I learned different carriers had different strength of signals for different areas. Even in the city, there were void spots with poor tower coverage.
Which brings to question, as with mine, do you find you lose connectivity only in certain areas? If so, you might want to call your cell-phone carrier to learn what their coverage area entails. It could be another carrier in your area has better coverage for your needs.
With my ‘14 VW, I enjoy using Bluetooth. However, again, I do notice, when it constantly goes on and off, on and off, it’s simply tower coverage problems I’m experiencing.
I could have chosen to go with a different network — which with my, newer, non-smart phone would have involved a different (inexpensive) phone. However, I’m satisfied, mostly, with my existing phone. So, I merely wait with some calls to drive into be better service area before my call can go thru.
Hope this helps!
