Adapters for the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) or USB-C port on your Mac or iPad Pro - Apple Support
"If your Mac has only one port like this, it's a MacBook with USB-C USB icon. That port supports all but the Thunderbolt solutions in this article."
The MacBook (not Pro) does not have Thunderbolt, just USB-C, so cannot run a Thunderbolt display. There are no adapters, cables, docks, or converters that can help.

The apple tech support people said there *is* an adapter that works for this and have ordered it for me. I will update folks once i receive it to let you know if it works!
