the paperclip icon in apple mail with attachments has been replaced with a blue star on all recieved email

in Apple mail the paper clip indicating an email contains an attachment has been replaced with a blue star. This only occurs on received email. The paper clip is still there for all sent mail with attachments and when you sort received email by attachment.

How can this be corrected. The user in this case is my father, a 94 year old senior with failing eyesight, so you can Imagine the impact of this problem.

you are right VIPs have a star beside them. In this case however what is missing is the paper clip which should accompany all received email which have attachments. The only time it appears is when you “sort by” email with attachments. It also appears on all sent mail with attachments but not those received.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that you are concerned mail in the Mail app on the Mac is showing a blue star next to the emails with an attachment.
