BeatsX totally unresponsive, pink light showing, won't reset, won't turn on or off

BeatsX wireless earbuds, about a year old. Working fine one moment, totally unresponsive the next.

Shows a pink light, unless plugged in to charge in which case it goes white-red-white-red-white-red, then settles on white.... until you unplug, when it goes back to pink and stays pink.

Won't reset via normal practice (holding down power and down-volume). Nothing I've done has elicited any reaction at all except plugging it in to charge or to my computer, which as noted above yields no benefit.

I've updated the software via BeatsUpdater to the latest version but it hasn't helped.

There's no Apple Store in my town - what can I do to get this fixed? Not okay that these haven't lasted the distance... I've looked after them well and it's not like they were all that cheap.
