How do I save an Excel file to my Desktop?

I just bought a MacBook Pro. I also purchased Excel for Mac. I want to save the excel file to my mac desktop and can't figure out how to do it. Can you please help?

Select "Save.." from Excel's File" menu. That brings up the Save dialog box. Select "Desktop for the lef sidebar and name the file in the place indicated in the image:

Saving the Document from an External Source

If this file is already saved somewhere else, such as on a USB flash drive or in another folder, use these methods...


With the file Opened, and never saved before, you can.

  • Press Command+S > Select “Desktop” on the left-side of the window > Click “Save


Or...


With the file Closed, you can...

  • drag-and-drop the file’s icon to the “Desktop”.


  • Close the File > Right-Click the file’s icon > Select “Cut” > Right-Click on the “Desktop”> Select “Paste
