How to check the status of hyper-threading in macOS
I'm wondering that the informations on this Article are not working on my iMac with 10.14.5.
Before I change my setting I want to know the status of hyper-threading on my system.
Any idea?

Check in the System Information/Hardware section:
The article indicated that the performance was reduced by 40% with the hyper-threading turned off.
I will disable it via Terminal
FWIW, not all i5s have hyper-threading. Yours doesn't and there's nothing to disable.
Hi again, Massimo Lombardo !
Once again referring to the link you supplied :
If the processor in your Mac supports hyper-threading, Hyper-Threading Technology is shown as either Enabled or Disabled.
Therefore, if it is not showing up in System Information then your Mac does NOT support Hyper-Threading.
I hope this helps clear things up, and good luck !
But i find this info on the web:
"Core i3, i5 and i7
First introduced in 2008, the Core i3, i5 and i7 models constitute Intel's current line of desktop PC processors. They cover a wide range of clock speeds, from 1.2 GHz for the i3 Mobile to 3.6 GHz in the fastest i7 processors. All processors in the series are 64-bit designs and have a minimum of two cores each; other than the quad-core i5 models, they all benefit from Hyper-Threading technology."
Also on the INTEL site you can find the information that on Core i5 is the HT running https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/products/processors/core/i5-processors/i5-9400h.html
I will disable it via Terminal
Hi, Massimo Lombardo !
The information on how to check the status of hyper-threading is at the bottom of page at the link you supplied.
Good luck !
Hi Buster,
I've tried but in the System Information Report on the Hardware section there are no information about the status of HT.
The described way doest works
ciao
Hi OT,
on my mac I see only this:
Maybe hyper-threading is only available with the i7 CPU which lists multiple cores.
Why do you want to disable it?
Because of the Apple note he posted.
All i7 CPUs support hyper threading. In terms of the i5, laptop
i5 CPUs have hyper threading, however, desktop i5 CPUs do not.
Why? You need to ask Intel.
