delete app
i deleted the app in dock, the identical app appears on home screen. when i tap and hold app in home screen no x in upper left appears for deleting. how to delete app?

What app are you trying to delete? Many native apps can't be deleted. If you hold your finger on the app lightly until all apps jiggle, is an x on some apps, but not the one you want to delete, or is there no x on any app?
If there is no x on any app, then you have restricted making changes to apps in Settings > Screentime > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Deleting Apps must be set to allow.
A final thought could be that your iPad is under a company's Mobile Device Management restrictions, where deleting content is not permitted. If that is the case, you would need to speak with the IT administrator at your company for guidance.
