I deleted the app from the dock but it is still seen on the launchpad. There is no delete button that opens when I hold the option key, and the app could not be moved to trash.

The application does not exist anymore.
You may need to reset Launchpad. This will revert everything in Launchpad to their defaults.
In Terminal, paste the following line:
defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true; killall Dock

What happens if you try to drag it to the trash?
Some applications that are part of the system cannot be deleted (like Safari, Mail, Preview...).
If it is a third party application, that would be unusual.
In any case, we need more information, starting with: what app is this?
It comes back to the launchpad. By the way, it doesn't appear in the finder application. In the launchpad, the logo of the app also does not appear. Instead, there is a white box and with "Vuze" under it.
You will need to reinstall and then use the correct uninstallation procedure.
FWIW, only apps installed from the App Store will have a "delete button" when you hold the option key.

Look for a folder for Vuze, delete it.
It's still there on the launchpad...
According to the Vuze website, the instructions to uninstall are listed in my last post. If that doesn't work, contact Vuze.

Yes, I did that, there were 2 Vuze apps one with a normal one with a white empty box on the launchpad. But in the end, it is deleted!
