Does Mac recognize hard drive 3TB or More?

I have a Macbook Air 2018 and Mac Mini 2018 with Mojave OS. If I were to buy ANY external hard drive that is 3TB or more in capacity, will my Macs recognize its full size automatically? I've had problems in the past where my Mac did not recognize more than 2TB.

USB hard drive seen as two separate drives when is one I am trying to re-format a LaCie external hard drive that was originally set up where the Mac OS "sees" the drive as two separate volumes. One is 800 GB, the other is 200 GB. I want to format it now so that the OS sees it as a simple HD of 1 TB volume. When I use the Apple Disk Utility, it shows 2 external HD. I do not see any options to completely delete one or combine the two into one.

external hdd capacity I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini and have a few external HDD's mounted, the largest of which is 10TB. I want to mount a 12TB so I can eliminate some of the other ones but have not been able to. The message I get is "the disk is too large to be supported by the given partition scheme". Is there a way to fix this? It is out of the box and I have not formatted it or anything yet.

A modern Mac will have no problem recognizing large hard drives.

I have a generic 8TB USB3.0 external drive and had no issues.
