Some songs are greyed out in itunes and won't sync to iPhone

I copy all my CDs to iTunes so I can listen to them on the Mac and iPhone. Some songs are greyed out on iTunes on the mac (see first image below) but will play on the mac. They won't sync to my iPhone - see second image below where only the 3 non-greyed songs sync
