activation for iMessage

I have restarted my phone several times and turned iMessage on and off, but I am no longer getting text messages on my phone and am not able to send any text messages on my phone unless they show as just text message. It says I need to sign in with my apple id but its not taking my information. How do i get my iMessage to start working on my phone again without having to go to the store?

Do you have International; SMS enabled by your provider?
