Camera roll issue

I have a camera roll issue. In iOS 7, I would take a photo with my iPhone 4s and the photo would end up in both the camera roll and the photo stream on my phone, just as it was supposed to do. If I deleted the photo from the camera roll, the photo would still stay in the photo stream.

Now, in iOS 12, I take a photo with my iPhone 8+ end it ends up in both the camera roll and the photo stream just as it should. BUT, when I delete the photo from the camera roll, it now automatically deletes from the photo stream at the same time. I don't want it to do this, I want it to stay in the photo stream if I delete it from the camera roll, just like it used to do in iOS 7.

Is this possible?
