Find my i phone

My sons phone is broken but EE will not send it for repair until we turn off find my iphone. When I log in there is only my i pad registered

iPhone 7, iOS 12

Then it's not registered to your iCloud account...

It would be registered to his iCloud account. He needs to log into https://icloud.com/find using his iCloud account.
