I just received a call on my land line saying there had been a security breach with my iCloud account, and I should press a keypad number to connect with Apple Support.

If you are ever worried about your AppleID just verify it yourself - https://appleid.apple.com/ (but never by following any link on any message or email - open a browser and navigate to that secure URL yourself and login to verify your AppleID or change password or any of your information).
Apple will never initiate telephone contact with a customer.
1 - no. 2 - no. This is an all too common scam. Never respond to this sort of thing - just put the phone down. Without exception all calls or messages saying there is a security breach, or that you have a virus, or that our account will be suspended if you don't 'verify' it are scams. Apple will never ring you unless you arrange a callback from Support.
