So when I open Audio Midi Setup after I plug my lightning USB cable in to my phone and my mac, it shows with the button to click enable, but when I enable it, it shows the enable button greyed out with a loading symbol next to it but it never enables. Can someone please help with this!! I'm desperate!!

and a hard reboot of the iphone and reset of the smc/pmu and zap pram on the macbook air side. You’ll also have to make sure to choose it in ‘sound’ under system prefs as an input

Make sure to enable it with the privacy settings, too.
I believe Audio MIDI setup is just for your MacBook air only, or other desktop/portable macs. what exactly are you trying to do with your iPhone and your MacBook air ? apart from resetting the smc/pmu and zappping the pram, i have nothing
