1. Please verify your settings in for when the device automatically locks: Set a passcode on iPhone - Apple Support
- Go to Settings
> Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock, then set a length of time."
If it is currently set to the time you wish, I recommend changing it to never, and restarting your device. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
2. Then, change the time to automatically lock back to your specified time, and re-test.
3. If the issue is still occurring after those steps, I recommend making a backup before the next steps. You can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
4. After your data is backed up, since you mention this only started after your most recent upgrade, I recommend reinstalling iOS using iTunes. The reason we need to use iTunes for this step is to get a new copy of iOS installed to your device.
