Macbook Pro Random Black Screen

Recently, the screen started randomly turning black. It only happened once in a while until yesterday. It turned black only after a few minutes of me restarting it. It stays as a black screen until I shut down and restart. This kept happening and it is honestly very annoying. I tried resetting the PRAM, reinstalling the os, etc. None of it worked. When I reinstalled the os, it stopped for about an hour before it started going black again. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence.

Resetting the NVRAM would be the go to way of address software issue.

I would be suspect of GPU, cable or cable connection. Intermittent problems are harder to pin down.

You can try running the Diagnostic/AHT  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
