Word and letter spacing

I have a MacBook Pro 2018. Mojave 10.14.1.

Every time I type an "I " it automatically creates what appears to be 3 spaces between it and the word that follows. Anyone know how to fix this without me having to backspace the extra spaces out? it's really time-consuming but leaving it "as is" doesn't look good at all. Example in pic:

MacBook Pro 15”, macOS 10.14

Have you set any text replacement items in System Preferences : Keyboard : Text panel? Something that adds spaces after you type a capital letter I? Are you using Keyboard Maestro, Alfred, or any other comparable tool that may be recognizing the uppercase "I" and performing the substitution?

Thank you! I checked out my system preferences for the keyboard and under "Replace with" there was a lower case i and then a capital I. I deleted that and it corrected the issue. I then went back and redid that replacement and it's still fine- doesn't add any more than one space after capital I. So I'm thinking that somehow there must've been additional spaces after the capital I in the replacement. I don't even know... It doesn't do it now though! so, thank you!
