iPad 2 won’t install iOS 9.2.1

The iPad shows that an update is due and it is 9.2.1. It is currently on 7.0.4.

Tapping Install Now gives the following error: “iOS 9.2.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet”. (I am connected to the Internet).

I tried the solution offered here:

However it is not possible to find anything like iOS 9.x.x in the Storage list. It is entirely populated with known regular apps, nothing system related like an OS update.

You may need to use iTunes on a computer, connected to the Internet, to perform your iPad 2 iOS update to iOS 9.3.5.

Since your iPad 2 is still running iOS 7, you need to be advised that many, but not all, iPad 2 users reported severe performance slow down issues with both iOS 8 and 9.

If this should happen to your iPad 2 after upgrading to iOS 9.3.5, tap on the link below to my iDevice/iOS performance/optimisation user tips link, below.

Try all of these tips and leave each tip active together. Do not simply try every tip individually, expecting just one tip to be a performance “cure all”.

Many of these tips are designed to work together to help improve overall iOS/iDevice performance.
