2016 Macbook Pro dock un responsive upon wake

Upon waking the MacBook Pro the dock is unresponsive. You click on anything and if it’s frozen. Yet I can hit command space bar and open app, if safari is open I can use it, it’s just the dock and clicking on it. I have taken to the apple store to no avail, his suggestion were if it still kept happening reset and start over, do not migrate data. I did this last month and still it continues. Can apple or anyone help me with this?

So since 2016 this has been an issue, or you just purchased a 2016?



 To trouble shoot further you can:


   Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262


  Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache,  etc.  Login and test.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode. 



  Test issue in another user (or guest user) account  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

What changed? Recent upgrade/recent up date?


What did yiou discover in Safe Boot Mode and new user account?


Some one off anoamloies like yours can be sorted by re-installing the combo update on top of your existing 10.14.5
