Spots appear while taking night photos

Hi,

I just purchased a new iphone XS, couple weeks ago. I just recently notice spots appear when I am taking night photos. Is this a phone defect?

Try cleaning the lens as described in the link below:

Get help with the camera on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If no help, have it checked: Find Locations

Sounds like lens flare. If correct, there is nothing that you can do.
