Wrong email entered When setting up apple ID

When setting up my dad’s phone I entered a nonexistent email for the Apple ID. I didn’t realize it at the time and I don’t know how to go back and change it so he can download apps from the App Store , etc

You can't create an Apple ID with a fake/wrong/nonexistent e-mail address.

Apple will send an e-mail to that e-mail address for confirmation.

Until you can confirm by replying to the e-mail, that Apple ID is not valid.

If you can't remove it from the phone, take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.

or contact Apple ID Support. They will need to see the original purchase receipt/paperwork also.
