iPhone from AT&T is not compatible with Verizon network.

i purchased an iPhone 7 from AT&T, now I need to change carriers because TT&T doesn’t work in my ne location. I find out today that I can’t use my iPhone 7 with the Verizon network, I have to buy a new phone. I still owe $200 on the AT&T iPhone. This is not acceptable, why wouldnt AT&T & Apple advise me that if I buy this phone, it will not work on the Verizon network. Yet if I had purchased a iphone from Verizon, It would work on both networks.

iPhone 7, iOS 12

If you buy a phone from a service provider it will be locked to that provider because the cost of the phone is spread across the contact. therefore you can't expect to leave that provider until you've cleared the cost of the phone. Ask AT&T if they will unlock the phone once you've paid off the $200.
