Chess won't open
Whenever I try to open chess, the app freezes, quits, and the error menu pops up.

First, try holding an option key while launching Chess from Applications or the Dock. That ensures it starts a new game, vs trying to open one that was previously saved.
If that does not help, please determine if the same problems occur in "Safe Mode": Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.
If that still does not help, it might be related to your Game Center account. Read macos sierra 'chess' covered by incomplete message for that particular solution.
