Safari problems

Running Mojave 10.14.5 on MacBook pro. I live in Canada. Over the past year, safari will not open log in page for free wifi at restaurants and coffee shops. I get the message that there was a problem connecting. Firefox works fine at these locations. Now it will not open the log-in page for internet banking. It gives me a message apparently from the bank saying that internet banking is not available at this time, they are working on it, etc. Firefox opens the log-in page just fine. I have also had trouble opening some government website pages. I suspect these problems are due to systems on a PC platform not recognizing Mac. Is there a fix as I like using Safari but may have to set it aside as my preferred software.

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.14

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.
