An iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) cannot serve as a music repository. The only music you can transfer from an iOS device to a Mac using Apple’s methods are songs you purchased in iTunes.

Music gets transferred to your Mac using other methods. One example is a previous computer or its backup.
