Final Cut Pro X - Not Exporting File

When I click "share" and change my settings and etc. (I do not need help with settings, I have used FCP 7 for years previously), and hit "share", nothing happens, I don't see any window indicating exporting, when I got to the folder where I'd expect the file to be shared to, there is a file with zero bites with no indication of rendering or exporting or that the file is in the process of exporting. Just simply nothing happens when I hit "share".

Yes - I've deleted preferences

Yes- I've tried to create a new library (but certainly not an expert on FCP X lingo/structure of "library"

Yes - I've tried deleting FCP X and re-downloading

Yes - I've tried turning off computer and on again and all that.

*Note, I have a 2011 iMac with 12 GB Ram and it's running El Capitan

I really appreciate any help. I was using FCP 7 for years and loved it but really want to give FCP X a try. Thank you!
