FCPX not loading libraries..or anything. Help?

We've been using FPCX v 10.6.4 with no issues on an iMac that is dedicated to editing and nothing else.

We have a couple of libraries on the desktop and a couple more on an external drive. Two days ago you could click on any library and it would open up quickly and load the media, no problems at at all. We recently backed up one of the larger libraries to an external "emergency" drive that we keep off site. Otherwise we've moved no files or made changes to the source media.

Today our editor went in, clicked on one of the libraries and FCP opened and was completely empty. No media loaded, no projects, no events, nothing. Just an empty interface with "Nothing Loaded" at the top of the viewer. Our guy tried to close out of FCP and it gave an alert and would not close. He had to force quit. We restarted the iMac and opened FCPX directly, then tried to open a library from inside the platform. Nothing would open. None of the libraries on any of our drives. He clicked on the "New Project" icon and the button reacted, but no new project was created.

Do we need to delete FCPX and re-install?

What was the alert you got? Reboot the computer. Reinstall the application from the App Store. Trash the preferences as you launch the application.

Post screenshots of what happens when the application opens and when you try to open the library from inside the application. Show what you see in the open library dialog when you locate the library.

Thanks Tom. The iMac is at my office; will be back over there shortly and upload the screenshots and re-install as you advised.

There are no alerts. The program opens fine as if it's never been used, nothing in the left bins. If I try to open a library on the iMac, nothing happens. If I try to open a library on a hard drive, the drive flashes as if it's processing a task, but nothing happens. The "open" dialogue shows the various libraries in a dropdown list but none of them open when selected.
