MacBookAir

When I try logging in to iMessage and FaceTime on my MAC it requires a verification code. Now, the code is actually sent successfully on my iPhone; however, I never get the window which I am supposed to fill in with that code.

iMessage just brings me back to the login interface again.

Please clarify? Same Apple ID used for iCloud on both devices? Ensure MacOS and iOS using latest software as some older versions do not support Two-Factor authentication and therefore will not support the box needed to enter code on mac?

I have a MacBook Air A1369 Model Number Version 10.7.5 When I go to Apple logo on the left corner and then click Software Update then it says Software Update doesn't have any new soft ware for your computer at this time. Then when I try to sign in it doesn't have the 2 verification for my email.

When I first got my MacBook Air I got it from my cousin and I put my account and everything worked and the verification code and the code boxed showed and worked until I wiped it out and make it a brand new Laptop again /Factory Restore.
