how do i reinstall mac os x to a macbook pro?
i got this from a friend and went to delete all her information, but it cleared everything and it wont even let me reinstall anything?

It really depends on the age of the computer and the version of OSX it had installed. Check out these Apple articles:

If the Mac cannot use Internet Recovery Mode or Recovery Mode, then you will need the original OSX install DVD or OSX Snow Leopard DVD which may be purchased from Apple if you don't have the discs. If you have another Mac, you might be able to create a bootable macOS USB installer.
