Just upgraded to 2gig on iCloud. Tried to backup total iPadPro. Nothing was backed-up.
All was well:
iPad locked > connected to power source > connected to WiFi
My most important need is to backup all my Procreate/Vectornator FILES, not just the apps.
How can I assure that these are saved to the cloud?

This is entirely up to the app developer to code in to an iCloud backup.
iOS has no knowledge of your need to back up these files. If it can be done, it would be triggered by the app developer as part of an iOS backup.
Apps themselves have never been part of any iCloud or iTunes backups. Apps are reinstalled during a restore directly from the App Store. All that iCloud does backup is the App content - the files associated with each app.
