Updated to Mojave 10.14.5 and Preview's notes are not visible on the side panel

When I click on individual notes, the labels appear and are in black coloration. However, the note labels on the side panel are invisible as they are now in white coloration. When I try to change the back ground color for the note box, nothing happens. The Note boxes are in the same yellow color as when I first inserted them using the earlier High Sierra OS. Is there a way to change the color of the text or to make the text visible?

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities. I see you're running into some issues with an app on your Mac.

To clarify, it sounds like you're referring to the Notes boxes you've added to PDF files in Preview; is that right? Add notes and speech bubbles to a PDF in Preview on Mac

Does this happen with new notes that you add, or only those that were previously created?

Are you using Dark mode, or Light mode? Does it make a difference if you switch between the two in Apple menu () > System Preferences > General? How to use Dark Mode on your Mac

Does it help if you click Apple menu () > Restart?

I tried switching from Dark to Light mode and suddenly, the text was visible as black coloration. When I switched back to the Light version, again the text became a white color and was unreadable unless I highlighted each note on the side bar. So, I kept my system in Light mode. But, and quite suddenly, my OS reverted to Dark Mode but everything is now functioning and the text can be read. Must be a bug in the OS. Thanks for your response, it was helpful.
