Can't download Xcode on Mac Book Pro

Just got a new/refurbished 2017 13inch Mac Book Pro running Mac OS 10.14.3 from apple today. Just did the initial set up but haven't installed anything else. I am trying to download Xcode but it will not download. I click on the little blue download icon in the App Store it spins for a moment then goes back to the download icon without downloading anything. I have tried signing put of iCloud and back in again with no effect.

Click on the download icon.

And Nothing.

Any help would be great.

Thank You

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

Well, 10.14.3 is the minimum version of macOS required for Xcode 10.2.1, so it should just download.

Get a full, Time Machine backup before you upgrade the operating system to later releases, or add additional software. Then, visit System Preferences : Software Update, let it tell you that it has found 10.14.3, and then wait abit, and see if it informs you that a 10.14.5 update is available. Install that, and then try the Xcode download again afterward. Shouldn't matter, but macOS can be fickle sometimes.
