iCloud says storage full of messages but I don't have any

Hi,

I received a message saying my iCloud storage was almost full. The settings indicated that I have 4.3 GB of messages.

However, I do not have that many messages, and I even deleted what few I had. I tried turning off syncing. I checked family sharing and confirmed that I do not share iCloud storage.

Has anybody seen this before? Ideas for resolving?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi, Richard,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. I understand from your post that you're having some trouble with your iCloud storage. Specifically it shows that it's low, and most of the storage is being dedicated to iMessage. I'm happy to help!

If you use Messages in iCloud, your messages may be stored in iCloud but not on your device directly, in order to save space. If that's the case, you'll want to manually manage what appears in iCloud using Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support.

If you still need help after that, please get in touch with Apple Support directly, which you can do here: Contact Apple Support.

Cheers.
