Pioneer AVH Unit Carplay sound suddenly mutes!

Hi, I’m having issues with my Pioneer AVH-7150 BT (similar to the NEX series) unit with Carplay. When I connect my Iphone 8 plus (ios 12.3.1) it starts to work fine but within a minute or so the sound mutes suddenly and I cannot fix it without disconnecting and connecting my iPhone. Sometimes the problem persists after a few attemps and finally it starts to work properly. But it never works in the first connection attempt.

I have this problem from day one since I bought the unit. I’ve always used it with different versions of ios 12. I updated both my iphone and head unit to the latest firmware available, but the problem persists. I also reseted both devices many times without success.

Can anyone help?

Hello Diegocamp79.

You mentioned that you connected via USB. Try connecting while you have Bluetooth turned off on your iPhone and on your car stereo. If the issue does not occur, try turning on Bluetooth only on your iPhone.

If I understand your post correctly, it takes multiple attempts to connect your iPhone to you car stereo with CarPlay. I can certainly understand needing to be able to simply connect and go. I’d like to help.

Follow the steps in this article:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod doesn't connect to or work in your car

Thanks for the reply!

Sadly that didn´t help me, since it´s mostly basic information about connecting my iPhone with Carplay via different sources including USB which is the one I use.

I´ve been trying disconnecting my iPhone from bluetooth this last days and it seems to have fix the problem partially. I think there is a problem with Carplay AND Bluetooth working at the same time! At least with my receiver...
