how to open .ram files on mac os x 10.13.6
I tried to find real player for Macs, but couldn't. Is there a better/newer player for .ram files?
iMac 27", macOS 10.13

Did you look at a .ram file in a Text Editor... they can't be played they point to a Website with a .ra file I believe, plat .ra files in VLC Player. :)

FWIW, both VLC and IINA will play your .rm files. As has been explained, .ram files are just links to videos online.
(( That article feels overwhelming to me .. .geeky? ))
Not geeky. Just how computers work.
Notice that your .ram files are only hundreds of bytes, but your .rm files are 10's to 100's of MegaBytes.
That means there is nothing be text in the .ram files. They are mere pointers to streaming media online. The pointers may no longer be valid.
No, they are AV files that i've opened and played before..."long ago".
I think this article disagrees: https://walkerart.org/magazine/how-to-convert-real-media-video-into-h-264-mp4
But, it might help you.
What is the file size of the .ram file?
VideoLAN'S VLC can play a lot of video files, but I don't know if it can play a .ram file.

.ram files are text files. Open them with any text editor.
Then maybe Real.com knows what they're saying... these files are actually instructions for playing the file from a web source.
Why can't I play any .rm or .ram files?
The extensions .rm and .ram apply to multimedia container formats used by RealMedia for streaming content over the Internet. All versions of our PC desktop player (RealPlayer, RealPlayer Cloud, and RealTimes) should be able to play these files. You should also be able to play .rm files on a Mac.
To play .rm files on an Android device, iPhone, or iPad, you will first need to upload the file to your RealCloud using either the PC desktop version or the web version of RealTimes (https://realtimes.real.com).
Files with a .ram extension cannot be played on a Mac, Android, or iOS device and cannot be uploaded to RealCloud, as these files are actually instructions for playing the file from a web source.

But Barney's advice might work anyway...

So sorry for the misunderstanding, Bob. when I posted my thank you for everyone, I didn't know that it included a quote asking for a player. I couldn't find a way to delete that , so thank you again, Bob, you all helped me very much!
Don't worry about the quote or pic, I think, without ever meeting them, that they all basically hold my belief, that is...
Your only choices at every step are to make your work a better place, or a worse place to live.
Hopefully Desmond would be proud of us. :)
i should have said my - newly downloaded - VLC doesn't play ram files.

Can someone please help me find an app to play these rm and ram files?!
Yes. :)
