Xs Max water resistant? But not mine

Why is Xs Max advertising “can survive up to 30 min in water 2 meter deep” but when I have splash of water in my phone and they said they found water damage, my phone is not cover in one year warranty?

One of the features of the XsMAx is: Rated IP68 (maximum depth of 2 meters up to 30 minutes) under IEC standard 60529.

Based on the standard that is:

"The equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions which shall be specified by the manufacturer. Normally, this will mean that the equipment is hermetically sealed. However, with certain types of equipment, it can mean that water can enter but only in such a manner that it produces no harmful effects."

Supposed to be water proof not water resistance. Off course they never update the warranty coverage, if what they advertised is true, they should cover water damage.

Its a shame. I've never had any issue with water for many years since my first iphone. Last year I bought an iPhone XS with ip68. I was little bit less water-averse, and sometimes it went through some splashes. Never underwater. Last week a face recognition stopped working, I brought it to a service and they diagnosed water damage. They offered me to buy a new phone, with a discount, but still for a lot of money. Now I think that Apple's claims on ip68 are scam. My friend dives his Samsung (also rated ip68) under water all the time and never has any issues.
