Bring back the iPod!

Nobody wants to carry 2 iPhones! Bring back a new version of the iPod classic...160gb or larger, solid state HD of course, I'm sure it can now be made smaller, support Wav, FLAC, etc. Am I alone here? Let me know what you all think.

High end? There's no such thing as a high end music player. They all play back MP3, AIFF, Apple Lossless, WMA and other standard digital audio files. From one to the next, VERY few people will be able to notice the slightest difference in sound quality.

If anyone spends this kind of money for a music player, then whooeee!, they have found a major league sucker. But it's your money, throw it away as you wish.

I like your comments! I am not hostile towards Apple (except for Apple Match which lost a large portion of my music files! ;-)) And there are apps that are much better than iTunes for music players on a computer...Audirvana Plus is one. And the audio player manufacturers do make software that is as good, if not better than iTunes, but it is for PC. I have owned Apple computers since my first Mac SE20 (if you can't remember the Zune, you will never know about this computer! ha!), and everyday something new reminds me that Apple is getting left behind on phones, computers, software, and cost. It is a great ecosystem if you stay within it with all Apple products, but if parts of the ecosystem doesn't meet your needs...

I was just hoping Apple would go back to innovating and stop relying on what Jobs created/innovated 10 years ago.

they need to bring back the ipod classic. a more modern but only for music like the ones before. and it must have good sound quality like the wolf dac for the 5th gen. i was too young to be aware of the ipod classic, but i bought one last year and i love it. i always get compliments on it and its better than having my phone. im not a programer but i might just try it, just so i could try and program my own ipod. already have interface and control ideas in mind.

Sorry Terence, I mis-spoke regarding ram and was meaning memory. Pono failed because Neil Young pulled out of the project as he does with all the projects he gets involved in ;-) Very melodramatic phrase of "littered carcasses", but in fact there are many more players in the field than when Pono was starting. Just trying to judge if the Apple community had any feelings in regard to this subject. I don't need to tell Apple what to do, they are very successful buying back their stock with their earnings and selling "me-to" products that are no longer leaders in the market.

Hi "the fiend",

I know what happened when Apple hit the music market, many of the "older musicians" are younger than me! ha! I also know what happened when Spotify and the music streaming companies hit the market, and I know you know how much worse it is today for musicians to make money and protect copyrights.

I concede, my career is now over and I no longer have to worry about these things. Apple can continue on its present path of knowing what is best for its shareholders as you say, and not worry about being young thinking, innovative, and creative. I'll just go sit on my porch and yell at the kids to "get off my lawn!" Ha!

Best wishes to all,

Tim
