can I install an m.2 ssd in my 2011 macbook pro??

I am fairly new to MacBook family and want to install an m.2 drive to make it a little faster, according to this https://appuals.com/are-nvme-pcie-m-2-drives-compatiable-with-macs/ I can't install in my 2012 MacBook because of the form factor, so what are my chances what can I do to speed up my mac?

2012 non retina will accept a SATA 2.5" SSD

Retina models have the PCIe SSD form factor as you describe.
