problem ripping CDs with itunes

When I try to import the songs on a CD to itunes, many times it will import most of the songs and then when it gets near the end of the disc, to the last song or the next to last song, it suddenly stops partway through the song and ejects the disc with an error message "file not found". It seems like the drive is maybe reading the disc too fast and when it gets near the end of the disc as the read rate increases it can't process quickly enough.
