A strange website appeared on my Safari Browser a few days ago and I cannot get rid of it. It shows up every time I open Safari. It is an alleged search site called search.hquickneasyrecipes.co . It has been identified as a Browser Hijacker. I have tried all the steps set forth in Safari Help and nothing seems to work.
Has anyone else had this experience and if so, did you manage to remove it?
iMac 27" 5K, macOS 10.14
1. Remove Adware.
Run the latest release of Malwarebytes for Mac to remove malware/adware, if installed on your Mac.
For instructions: Install Malwarebytes for Mac Uninstall Malwarebytes for Mac
Click the “Scan Now” button. Once done, quit Malwarebytes for Mac.
Restart the computer and relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.
Repeat the scan couple of times.
2. Additional steps to take if necessary
1. Remove unknown extensions: Safari > Preferences > Extensions

3. Reset Homepage. https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/set-your-homepage-ibrw1020/mac
4. Restart your Mac. Relaunch Safari holding the Shift key down.
Do not download any program from the sites except for Malwarebytes. Check your Applications folder for any unknown applications. If found, delete them, and restart.
I installed Bitdefender and that did the trick. thanks for the replies.
