I am trying to install Silverlight so I can watch Netflix on my Mac desktop. It requires an administrator username and passcode. I don’t know what those are?

Are you the owner of the Mac, then you should be the administrator, so what is your user name, and what is the password you use to login to your Mac, that is all it is asking for. Open System Preferences> Users & Groups> Password have a look in the left hand column for your user name and to check whether it is an admin account.

Microsoft ended development of Silverlight for Mac in late 2016. Safari on High Sierra no longer supports browser plug-ins which eliminates Silverlight.
Netflix can stream HTML5 video to current browsers on Yosemite (10.10) or later.
