iTunes

I downloaded about 5000 thousand of songs off of CD when I got an iPod Classic. They were all downloaded to my phones thru the years. But, they are not on the Cloud, (only music downloaded from Apple Music appear) Now I cannot sync my phone with iTunes to get them back. I don't see any Cloud Icon with a line thru it. Whats up with this?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 12

No surprise, no answer. maybe they're answering questions about their new $1000 Mac stand?

This is a user to user support forum, I don't suppose that anyone here has one of them yet.

Your own CD rips only become included in your iCloud Music Library if they are in or added to an iTunes library when you have Apple Music or iTunes Match. Perhaps you have an older device, computer or backup they can be retrieve from. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - Apple Community.

The old system allowed me to select playlists. Now it seems it's all or nothing. Don't appear on the Cloud either. Saw anything not authorized would have a cloud with a line thru it. They have nothing.

Perhaps you have misunderstood how the iTunes system works.

Music you downloaded from CD into your iTunes Library - and then Synced (copied) to your iPod Classic, would have still been in your iTunes Library on your computer since that was the only way to manage the Classic. When you then bought the iPhone, that music would have been synced in the same way from iTunes to the phone.

Technology has moved in and the phone offers many extras that were never possible with the Classic, such as Sync over Wi-Fi and using your phone to purchase music directly from the iTunes Store. Music purchased from the iTunes Store will be available as "downloads" from the store, whichever device you use to sign in. But the music you imported from CD does not simply appear as "downloads" from the store unless (as tt2 explained) you use iTunes Match.

Assuming that you have moved onto another computer, if you have your original iTunes Library, you will need to copy it from that computer, onto your current one and add it to your current iTunes Library. Otherwise, use tt2's link to recover the music from your iPod.
