today only, cannot connect to gmail accounts from apple mail, why??

Tries connecting for a very long time and then fails on multiple gmail accounts on Apple Mail. Working fine on some non gmail accounts. Had a similar issue a few months ago and don't recall what it took to fix. But this is new as of just the last few hours today. Anyone know why???

Updated to macOS 10.14.5 a good week ago and all has worked fine since then. Just today is it not working... Any help???
